| 4 | 5 | 6 | |
| × 7 | |||
| 3 | 1 | 9 | 2 |
Answer: 3,192
Working: 6×7=42 (write 2, carry 4), 5×7=35+4=39 (write 9, carry 3), 4×7=28+3=31
Don’t forget to carry over when the product is 10 or more! Always add the carried number to the next column.
Now watch this video to learn division strategies including remainders. Pay attention to the steps! 🎯
For the SEA exam, you need to divide 2-4 digit numbers by 1 digit numbers. Long division is essential!
| Step | Working | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 8 ÷ 4 | 4 goes into 8 two times | 2 |
| 6 ÷ 4 | 4 goes into 6 one time (remainder 2) | 1 |
| 24 ÷ 4 | Bring down 4, 4 goes into 24 six times | 6 |
| Final Answer | No remainder | 216 |
Answer: 216
| Step | Working | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 5 ÷ 5 | 5 goes into 5 one time | 1 |
| 2 ÷ 5 | 5 goes into 2 zero times | 0 |
| 27 ÷ 5 | 5 goes into 27 five times (remainder 2) | 5 R2 |
| Final Answer | Remainder 2 | 105 R2 |
Answer: 105 Remainder 2
Don’t forget to write the remainder if there is one! Always check if your answer makes sense by multiplying back.
